EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 24: The Government teachers, who have been deployed for various duties in COVID-19 pandemic, have allegedly accused the concerned administrations for meting out step motherly treatment with them by not implementing rotational duties system.
Sources told Early Times that the teachers, who have been performing duties in COVID-19 since the month of March, 2020 till date have not been given break and continuously giving their duties, which has created resentment among them, who alleged that a selected section of teachers have been deputed on these jobs while a larger section has been spared from these duties.
“We are not averse of being given such duties as it is our prime ad national duty in such circumstances but there should be some system so that everybody may get chance of getting break from this tiresome job. The teachers who have been performing duties must be replaced by implementing a rotational system of two weeks,” some teachers told Early Times, preferring anonymity and demanded that the teachers who have been already giving duties continuously should be given rest at least for a week.
The selective approach of the concerned administration in deployment of teachers in corona virus has been creating resentment among aggrieved teachers. “Most of these teachers have been deputed in quarantine centres must be allotted rotational duties on fortnight basis replacing with the local staff and other local employees. Administrations should understand that fight against COVID -19 is a long battle to win over and it should devise a system so that everyone should be involved in this unprecedented situation, they said.
Besides, they alleged that that they are not being provided with proper protection and all safety gears during duty hours which are necessary for the safety and security of employees. Referring to the incident, wherein two teachers have lost their lives while performing their duties in the country while they were distributing MDM and conducting door to door health survey.
