UDHAMPUR, May 26: In a bid to ease the supply of essentials to the rural population during the ongoing lockdown, a girl student of village Chappar has come forward to supply fresh vegetables to the people residing in villages of Panchayat Ritti of district Udhampur.
Without any doorstep delivery system, people were flocking Udhampur town for essential commodities like fresh vegetables and fruits. Realizing the needs of the people, the 19-year old Kavita, who belongs to a middle class family of village Chappar in panchayat Ritti in District Udhampur, came up with the idea of delivering vegetable and fruits to the people at their door steps during the lockdown. She sells fruits and vegetables on no profit, no loss basis so that the villagers get fresh fruits, vegetables in their own village on wholesale rates. “My aim is to restrict the unnecessary movement of the villagers to busy market places in the town. With supply of vegies and fruits at their doorsteps, people need not to go out of village to procure them. It will reduce their fear of making contact with any corona infected person,” said Kavita.
Kavita, who recently completed her BSc Nursing, said that she got inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech wherein he had appealed to the country men, adding that she then vowed to help her local people in her own way of providing them the essentials at their doorsteps.
