Early Times Report

Anantnag, June 16: In total disregard to the transfer policy of the government, a well connected government teacher working at Higher Secondary school (HSS) Anantnag has not been transferred from past 22-years from the said institution.
The maximum stay of a government employee at one place, as per the rules, is two to three years. But in case of this particular teacher, the rules seem to be only for fools.
He, according to sources, was posted in HSS Anantnag in 1999 and has not been touched since then. The teacher, in 2010, was promoted to master grade and since then has been dealing with non-teaching assignments in the institution.
“For first two years after his posting in the institution , he has taught students but since 2011 he has been doing the clerical job in the institution,” a source told Early Times.
From admission to examination, establishment to fund maintenance, the teacher, according to the source, is dealing with everything.
Though the some teachers many a time registered their complaints with the higher ups with regard to his overstay in the institution but the Principals of the HSS always misled the top authorities and ensured that he is not touched.
Even in 2009, the teacher, who was enjoying good relations with the brother of then Congress leader and then education minister , Peerzada Syed was also given the best teacher award.
“Interestingly soon after receiving best teacher award the teacher shifted to non-teaching job,” sources said.
In 2014, the administrative department wrote to the director education to submit a factual report about the conduct and stay of the said teacher following the complaint registered by some staffers of the institution. However, the principal of the HSS in the report justified not only the overstaying of the doctor but also his dealing with non-academic assignments.
“The said teacher is enjoying not only the blessings of the heads of the institution but also of some officials at DSEK. Commissioner secretary education must look into how the said teacher can stay at one place of posting for 22 years,” said a group of teachers.
