SRINAGAR, June 16: As 78 more cases of Corona Virus were reported today in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir the total number of people affected by the virus has reached 5,298. Out of this 2,454 cases are active while as 2,781 patients have recovered with 63 deaths also taking place.
Reports said that Budgam reported 14 cases followed by Srinagar and Anantnag districts 10 cases each, Kulgam nine cases, Pulwama and Samba seven cases each, Baramulla and Bandipora four cases each, Kupwara, Udhampur and Rajouri three cases each, Kathua two cases and Shopian and Poonch one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 78 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 16 from Jammu division and 62 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 5,298.
Moreover, 177 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 78 from Jammu division and 99 from Kashmir division. Out of 5,298 positive cases, 2,454 are active positive, 2,781 have recovered and 63 have died; seven in Jammu division and 56 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 2, 76,174 test results available, 2, 70,876 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 39,712 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,265 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2,454 in hospital isolation and 47,579 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 49,320 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Kulgam has 643 positive cases, 213 active positive, 422 recoveries, eight deaths; Anantnag district has 579 positive cases, 188 active positive, 386 recovered, five deaths; Shopian has 558 positive cases, 230 active positive, 322 recovered, six deaths; Srinagar has 549 positive cases, 333 active positive, 202 recovered, 14 deaths; Baramulla has 525 positive cases, 291 active positive, 223 recovered, 11 deaths.
“Kupwara has 410 positive cases, 107 active positive, 298 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 259 positive cases, 197 active positive, 60 recovered, two deaths; Budgam has 259 positive cases, 143 active positive, 112 recovered, four deaths; Bandipora has 246 positive cases, 50 active positive, 195 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 63 positive cases, eight active positive, 55 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 279 positive cases, 129 active positive, 146 recoveries, four deaths; Ramban has 199 positive cases, 116 active positive, 83 recoveries; Udhampur has 168 positive cases, 106 active positive, 61 recovered, one death; Kathua has 162 positive cases, 86 active positive, 76 recovered; Samba has 112 positive cases, 77 active positive, 35 recoveries.
“Poonch has 105 positive cases, 61 active positive, 44 recoveries; Rajouri has 69 positive cases, 56 active positive, 12 recovered, one death; Doda has 63 positive cases, 33 active positive, 29 recoveries, one death; Reasi has 27 positive cases, 15 active positive, 12 recovered; Kishtwar has 23 positive cases, 15 active positive, eight recovered,” reads the bulletin. According to the bulletin out of 5,298 positive cases 1,829 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
