Sheep Husbandry Deptt makes ‘mockery’ of PM’s job package
Out of 20 selected candidates, 4 join; 16 left in lurch

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 25: Directorate of Animal and Sheep Husbandry has left the migrant candidates, who had applied for the post of Stock Assistants under Prime Minister’s job package in lurch.
The department vide notification no. 04 of 2017 dated 01/12/2017 issued a select list of only four candidates out of 20 leaving another 16 selected candidates guessing.
A candidate, whose name had figured in the list of 20 selected aspirants, while talking to Early Times said, “Despite our name figuring the final list we have not been provided with the appointment letters. We were told that our verification is pending.”
The selected candidates said, “After we came to know that four persons have already joined in we approached the concerned authorities but we were told that our cases are under process. The officials asked us to wait without fixing any deadline.”
They said, “Our simple question to the helmsmen is that how come formalities of four candidates were completed and others were left out. It’s evident that influential are always preferred and the people like us are made to suffer.”
The candidates said that they have completed all the formalities despite that officials are making them wait. “We don’t know which certificates and papers they are asking for. The process is already into its third year,” they added. The selected candidates urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and do justice with them.
It’s in place to mention here the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department in 2017 had invited the applications to fill in these posts under the Prime Minister’s employment package. The job notification stated: “The status of those applying under SRO 425 of 2017 will be certified by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district. Their age on 1/01/2017 should not be below 18 years; and not above 40 years in case of open merit. Forty three years in case of SC / ST/ RBA/ ALC/ OSC candidates. Forty two years in case of physically challenged candidates. Forty eight years in case of ex-Servicemen. Forty years in case of candidates in government service/contractual employees.”
The notification further stated, “The candidates should be in possession of the prescribed academic / professional / technical qualifications and fulfil all other eligibility conditions wherever required by or before the last date of submission of application forms i.e. 25/12/2017.”
It said, “Candidates who are eligible to apply for more than one advertisement are required to apply separately for each post.”
The notification said, “The prescribed qualifications reflect the bare minimum requirement of the job and mere possession thereof shall not entitle a candidate to be called for different stages of selection process. Call letters shall not be issued individually. However, Board shall give wide publicity through print and electronic media, Official Website (www.jkssb.nic.in) and official application portal (www.ssbjk.in)of the Board about the venues, dates of the written test for the information of eligible candidates.”
Dr Abdul Salam Mir, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Kashmir when contacted said that the case is pending with the administrative department. “As and when we receive clearance from the administrative department, further process will be initiated”, he added.
