BJP leader interacts with farmers
10/2/2020 11:02:03 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 2: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader FC Bhagat today interacted with locals of various Panchayats of tehsil Bishnah including Sarpanch panchayat Halqa Chak Bana Sh. Surjeet Choudhary and other prominent personalities of village Fatwal, Chak Bana and Chumbian Pandita. During interaction various issues related to day to day problem faced by the villagers were discussed and particularly the Farms Bill 2020 which is recently passed by the Government of India. Focusing on the issue, Bhagat hailed the farm bills cleared by Union government and said that with the passing and implementing these bills, the farmers are at liberty to sell their produce as per the minimum support prices ( MSP) calculated by the government from time to time or sell outside the mandi’s on comparative rates or to the private investors on higher rates comparatively to the MSP prescribed by the government.
Bhagat said that the main objective of the government by introducing these bills is to oust the middle man or reduce his monopoly in sale/ purchase of Agricultural produce by the farmers. As per the past practice they were the biggest beneficiaries of the Agriculture production by the farmers.
Any produce from the farmers end was taken on a meager price and the same produce are sold at highest price after going through these middle man. From all angles, the farmers are not getting anything out of agriculture produce and thats the reason this Bill is introduced so that farmers should have maximum choice to sell his produce in a very competitive environment taking maximum benefits from his produce.
He further said that the apprehension of the opposition or others who are opposing this bill that private investors are the only option before the farmers is totally wrong and baseless; whereas the government has repeatedly clarified that Minimum Price Support MPS will continue to check the private investors and farmers are free to sell their produce in markets where they get maximum price.
