Mahajan Sabha pays tributes to Lala Hans Raj Mahajan

JAMMU, Oct 2: The 154th Birth Anniversary of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm today.
In this connection, an impressive function was organized by Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha under the chairmanship of Romesh Chander gupta its President.
The function started with garlanding of a portrait of Lal Hans Raj Mahajan, the founder of the Sabha, at Mahajan Bhawan Shalamar Road, Jammu. He was also the founder of Dogra Saddar Sabha and Akhil Bhartia Mahajan Shiromani Sabha. During the deliberation of the function, the President of the Sabha and many other speakers while recalling the role of Lala ji termed him a great social reformer and a catalyst for social change and launched a crusade against evil customs like child marriage and Sati. Besides, he also launched a movement for wearing khadi, promoting brotherhood among various communities and for widow marriage. He also advised the people to avoid extravagant and showy expenditure on social functions. He was a man of principle and was instrumental in setting up Ved Mandir, Ashrarn, Rajput Sabha etc. Throughout his life, he worked for the welfare of all communities irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, region.
P.C Gupta read his poem, befitting the occasion which was highly appreciated hy the audience.
Thereafter, the participants also paid floral tributes to Lala ji by garlanding the statues erected at Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Park at Sunder Singh Gurdwara Road and Mahajan Sabha Sabzi Mandi (Parade Ground) Jammu.
Among others, the prominent personalities who were present in the function included Yash Paul Gupta, Rattan Lal Gupta Advocate, Shiv Partal Gupta, Om Pakash Mahajan(Kaku Shah), Om Parkash Gupta, sanjay mahajan, Rajesh Choudhary, C.P.Gupta, Mukesh Mahajan, Dr. Mohan Lal Gupta, Balbir Gupta, Romesh Chander Gupta (Bartan Wale), Arun Gupta, Yash Paul Gupta, Ram Langer, Atul Gupta, Prabh Dayal Gupta, Satish Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Darshan Gupta, Ravi Rohmetra and others.
