PDA to plant 10,000 trees at Pahalgam this year | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Oct 10: The Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) is planning to plant around ten thousand (10,000) Trees at Pahalgam this year, Chief Executive Officer Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani said on Saturday. He said that the saplings will be planted in and around Pahalgam to create more vegetation and forests. “PDA is committed to preserve the beauty and greenery of Pahalgam. To ensure more vegetation and forests at Pahalgam we have decided to plant 10,000 conifer and dedodar trees this year,” Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani said. CEO said that plantation drives will be carried out on those patches on priority which they have retrieved back during anti-encroachment drives. On Friday, he said, PDA kick started the drive and it’s employees have started digging trenches for planting trees. “We have developed our own nurseries. Plantation is very important for maintaining ecological balance and at the same time it minimizes the chances of land encroachments,” he added.
