Horizon Club lifts Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Championship

JAMMU, Nov 22: Horizon Cricket Club trounced Vridhi Royals by 12 runs in a thrilling contest and lifted the lifted the 8th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Championship played at KC Sports Club Cricket Ground Jammu.
The Championship was been organized by Senior Cricketers of J&K /Members of ICA in association with KC Sports Club and supported by Horizon Club, Game Changer Sports Club, Samar Sports Club, Vridhi Royals and JK Service Station Rajouri.
The slogan of the 8th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Championship was " let's celebrate all festivals together : Let's strive for communal harmony and oneness". The executive members of the organizing committee of the event includes Shahid Parvez, Ashvinder Koul, Rajesh Gill, Arjun Choudhary, Ashish Singh, Avinash Kumar, Sudhir Singh, Rakesh Koul, Saleem Ur Rehman, Madan Mohan and Sanjeev Sharma.
In the valediction function Shahid Parvez Senior Cricketer and Member ICA was the Chief Guest, whereas Sanjay Sharma SP Rural Jammu was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed the Trophies among the winners and runners- up teams.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Horizon Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 159 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Vivrant top scored with 58 runs , while Piyush ( 28) and Kaniya (15 ) runs contributed to the total. From bowling side Gourav was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets, Sachin took 2 wickets,while Jasbir and Archit claimed 1 wickets each.
In reply, Vridhi Royals could not chased the target and managed to score 147 in 20 overs by losing 7 wickets thus lost the match by 12 runs. Jasveer played a good innings of 42 runs, while Smarpit (32) and Anshul (20) . For Horizon Club, Shubam and Vivrant took 2 wickets each while Sukha and Santbaksh claimed 1 wicket each.
Vivrant of Horizon XI was adjudged man of the match in the final match and man of the Series for his alround performance during the tournament, Gourav Sharma and Smarpit of Vridhi Royals were declared as Best Bowler & Best Batsman .
Earlier, Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player, Member ICA & Organizing Secretary of the event presented a detailed report about the ten day long tournament in which 12 premier teams of the state participated covering around 192 players. The main objective of the tournament is to promote communal harmony among the masses and to celebrate the duo festivals together through T20 cricket.
Rajesh gill also announced that more cricket events will be conducted in near future with the support of Indian Cricket Association at Jammu.
In his address, the Chief Guest Shahid Parvez lauded the efforts of the organizers in conducting this mega event of 8th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup wherein top teams of the State are participated. Shahid Parvez also appreciates the title and objective of the Tournament because it involves the message of communal brotherhood which is very important and the need of the hour in the present scenario. He also complimented the Horizon team for their great performance in the tournament and winning the title trophy of the event. He also spoke in glorifying terms about KC Sports Club and its Managing Director Arjun Choudhary for providing great sports infrastructure to the sportsperson of the state.
The matches were officiated by JD Singh, Ashok Kumar and Dinesh Kumar , The proceedings of the valediction function was conducted by Rajesh Bakshi while the vote of thanks was presented by Sudhir Singh member organizing committee.
