Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 22: The internal bickering within the alliance partners in Gupkar alliance, particularly between the two main partners- National Conference (NC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) are now clearly visible in Doda district as the former has jumped into the DDC election fray from Thathri constituency.
The PDP has nominated 24 year old Er Ibad-ur-Rehman Sheikh as party candidate for the DDC polls for Thathri segment.
It may be recalled that the Early Times had carried a detailed report in its November 19 edition that the PDP is contemplating to field young engineer Sheikh for the election from Thatri Constituency.
Sources revealed to Early Times that the NC and the Congress held several meetings for seat sharing in the district for the forthcoming DDC elections, but the alliance partner PDP was not taken on board. Annoyed over the neglect, the PDP district leadership has decided to field its candidate for every constituency in Doda.
To start with, the PDP announced the nomination of Er Sheikh as a candidate from Thathri, District President Shahab-ul-Haque handed over the mandate to him.
Sources inside the PDP disclosed that soon the list of party candidates for all other constituencies of District Doda will be issued.
The candidature of Ibad was recommended by senior leader and former MLC Firdous Tak and District President PDP Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir after consulting party cadre.
Speaking to Early Times, Sheikh said that he is highly thankful to party high command for showing trust on him and giving him the mandate on party ticket.
He said that he is hopeful of victory with the support of common and poor people of his constituency. He also thanked PDP District President Kishtwar and Doda for encouraging him to contest the elections.
