Notification issued for 8th phase, Panchayat by-elections to MC Hajin

KUPWARA, Nov 22: As many as 35 candidates for DDC have withdrawn their nominations today, while notification has been issued for phase-8th and by-elections.
According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg, 35 candidates have withdrawn their nominations till November 21(last date for withdrawal of candidature) and 423 candidates are in fray for phase-III of ensuing District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-election in the district.
Those who withdrew candidature include, 7 DDC candidates viz 6 in Hyhama and 1 in Qaziabad, thereby remaining 42 candidates in fray in these 2 DDC constituencies.
Similarly, 6 Sarpanch and 22 Panch candidates have also withdrawn their nomination forms.
Thus, 27 Sarpanch and 354 Panch candidates are in fray in these 2 constituencies.
Meanwhile in Bandipora (DPEO) Dr Owais Ahmad on Saturday issued notification for phase-VIII of the Panchayat by-election, 2020 for the Panchayat Halqas of Block Hajin (Partly) and Block Bandipora (Partly) and District Development Council, 8-Hajin-A and 9-Hajin-B Constituency.
According to the DPEO for both DDC and Panchayat by-election, the last date for filing nomination is 1 December 2020 while the date of scrutiny is December 2. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 04 December 2020 and polls shall be held on 19th December.
The nomination paper in respect of both vacant Sarpanch and Panch can be obtained free of cost from the concerned Returning Officers from their Office headquarters.
DPEO also said that notification has been issued for by-elections to Municipal Committee Hajin for the vacant wards.
The last date for filing nomination is 1 December 2020 while the date of scrutiny is 2 December 2020. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 4 December 2020 and polls shall be held on 19th December, said DEPO.
He said that the nomination paper in respect of Municipal Councilors can be obtained free of cost from the concerned Returning Officers from their Office headquarters.
