SRINAGAR, Dec 16: Active cases of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir are 3.71 percent of total number of positive cases. At the same time the total number of positive cases reached 1, 16,932 with 332 new cases while the death toll reached 1817 following five fresh deaths.
Jammu district reported 96 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 53 cases, Baramulla and Budgam districts 19 cases each, Anantnag district 15 cases, Udhampur and Kathua districts 14 cases each, Kupwara district 13 cases, Pulwama, Rajouri and Doda districts 12 cases each, Samba district 11 cases, Ganderbal district 10 cases, Bandipora district nine cases, Kishtwar district eight cases, Ramban district seven cases, Reasi district five cases, Poonch district two cases and Shopian district one case. Jammu district in the Jammu division reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Srinagar and Reasi districts. So far 1,157 people have lost their lives due to the virus in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division number of such deaths is 660.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 332 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 181 from Jammu division and 151 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 16,932. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and one from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 415 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 239 from Jammu division and 176 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 16,932 positive cases, 4,346 are active positive, 1, 10,769 have recovered and 1,817 have died; 660 in Jammu division and 1,157 in Kashmir division.
Out of 34, 20,425 test results available, 33, 03,493 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 36,758 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 20,163 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,346 in isolation and 28,088 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 82,344 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,444 positive cases, 1,056 active positive, 22,951 recovered, 437 deaths; Baramulla has 7,773 positive cases, 175 active positive, 7,429 recovered, 169 deaths; Budgam has 7,362 positive cases, 272 active positive, 6,985 recovered, 105 deaths; Kupwara has 5,400 positive cases, 174 active positive, 5,138 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 5,324 positive cases, 171 active positive, 5,065 recovered, 88 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,686 positive cases, 111 active positive, 4,493 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,564 positive cases, 81 active positive, 4,426 recovered, 57 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,375 positive cases, 106 active positive, 4,228 recovered, 41 deaths; Kulgam has 2,630 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,513 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,433 positive cases, 76 active positive, 2,320 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 22,470 positive cases, 819 active positive, 21,315 recovered, 336 deaths; Udhampur has 3,982 positive cases, 229 active positive, 3,699 recovered, 54 deaths; Rajouri has 3,739 positive cases, 245 active positive, 3,441 recovered, 53 deaths; Doda has 3,315 positive cases, 121 active positive, 3,134 recovered, 60 deaths; Kathua has 3,050 positive cases, 107 active positive, 2,896 recovered, 47 deaths.
“Kishtwar has 2,690 positive cases, 125 active positive, 2,544 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,647 positive cases, 184 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 2,424 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,372 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,049 positive cases, 83 active positive, 1,945 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,575 positive cases, 117 active positive, 1446 recovered, 12 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 16,932 positive cases, 11,041 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
