SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Two youths, who were stranded on 270-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway due to closure of the road following snowfall, were on Sunday found dead inside their vehicle. Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed grief and shock over the death of two youths, residents of north Kashmir district of Kupwara. “Two youths, identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir and Majid Gulzar Mir, were found unconscious inside their load carrier at Railway Station Banihal on Sunday morning,” they said. They said the duo was immediately taken to Sub District hospital Banihal, where they were declared brought dead. “The duo has either died of hypothermia or asphyxiation,” they said. They, however, said the cause of the death was being ascertained. “Police have registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” they added. The death of the duo sparked violent protests by drivers and their co-passengers on the Railway Chowk Banihal.
