Congress holds protest, blocks highway

JAMMU, Feb 6: To support the nationwide call of protest by farmers, JKPCC under the leadership of JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmed Mir, held a strong protest demonstration alongwith various senior Congress leaders and workers at Rajiv Colony Chowk near Radisson Hotel in the Gandian mode peacefully, leading to blockage of the national highway for some time.
JKPCC Chief addressed the gathering and said Congress party fully backs the agitation of farmers who have rejected the three black laws immediately and are protesting over seventy days all over the country.
Mir blamed Modi led BJP Govt. for its adamant attitude and anti-farmers black laws as the farmers are agitating at the Delhi borders for the last more than 70 days. Around 157 farmers have lost lives in the agitation but the Govt. is trying to tire out the farmers are not conceding their genuine demands.
He also condemned the illegal detention of farmers and media persons at Delhi by police and asked the Govt. to immediate release of farmers and media officials.
He warned the Govt. if these three black laws will not be repealed then protests and demonstrations will continue in the support of farmers. Farmers are the back bone of the Country who feed millions of souls. They are feeling cheated as they were never consulted before framing of the laws.
Prominent leader who took part in the protest include Former Ministers & Vice Presidents PCC Mula Ram and Raman Bhalla, Balwn Singh (ex-MLA), Kanta Bhan( Vice President), PCC general secretaries. Manmohan Singh, Yogesh Sawhney(I/C DCC Jammu Urban), Shabir Ahmed Khan former Mister & DCC President Rajouri, Corporators Dwarka Choudhary, Sobat Ali & Bano Mahajan, Narinder Sharma, Sanjeev Panda, Kapil Singh, Suresh Dogra, Sahil Sharma, Madan Malagar, Uttam Singh, Gajan Singh, Sadeev Dogra, Varinder Chib, Ricky Dalotra, Parshotam Mehra, Gurmit Singh, Ram Magotra, Rakesh Sharma, Chander Sheikhar Sharma, Yash Pal Saranga, Raj Kumar Meedia, Om Prakash, Ram Pal and others.
