SRINAGAR, May 4: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported record 4,650 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 91,869. Following 37 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus in the union territory reached 2,458.
Srinagar district reported 1311 new cases followed by Jammu district 598 cases, Anantnag district 417 cases, Budgam district 386 cases, Baramulla district 352 cases, Pulwama district 240 cases, Udhampur district 220 cases, Rajouri district 205 cases, Kulgam district 162 cases, Kathua district 134 cases, Bandipora district 107 cases, Kupwara district 96 cases, Shopian district 85 cases, Doda district 81 cases, Poonch district 72 cases, Samba district 50 cases, Ramban district 49 cases, Reasi district 39 cases, Ganderbal district 31 cases and Kishtwar district 15 cases.
Jammu district reported 17 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district five deaths, Rajouri, Poonch and Pulwama districts three deaths each, Baramulla district two deaths and Samba, Doda, Budgam & Bandipora districts one death each. So far 1,452 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,006.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,650 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,463 from Jammu division and 3,187 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 91,869. Also 37 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 25 from Jammu division and 12 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 1,878 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 631 from Jammu division and 1,247 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 91,869 positive cases, 37,302 are active positive, 1, 52,109 have recovered and 2,458 have died; 1,006 in Jammu division and 1,452 in Kashmir division.
Out of 74, 18,169 test results available, 72, 26,300 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 44,022 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 90,390 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 37,302 in isolation and 1, 14,217 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 99,655 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 48,095 positive cases, 10,748 active positive, 36,782 recovered, 565 deaths; Baramulla has 14,120 positive cases, 2,683 active positive, 11,054 recovered, 203 deaths; Budgam has 11,701 positive cases, 2,053 active positive, 9,513 recovered, 135 deaths; Anantnag has 8,069 positive cases, 2,139 active positive, 5,819 recovered, 111 deaths; Pulwama has 7,868 positive cases, 1,603 active positive, 6,159 recovered, 106 deaths.
“Kupwara has 7471 positive cases, 1,175 active positive, 6,192 recovered, 104 deaths; Bandipora has 5,794 positive cases, 679 active positive, 5,050 recovered, 65 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,686 positive cases, 583 active positive, 5,051 recovered, 52 deaths; Kulgam has 5,094 positive cases, 1,799 active positive, 3,266 recovered, 69 deaths and Shopian has 3,309 positive cases, 530 active positive, 2,737 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 36,791 positive cases, 6,750 active positive, 29,490 recovered, 551 deaths; Udhampur has 6,604 positive cases, 911 active positive, 5,624 recovered, 69 deaths; Rajouri has 5,451 positive cases, 1,414 active positive, 3,961 recovered, 76 deaths; Kathua has 5,018 positive cases, 840 active positive, 4,112 recovered, 66 deaths; Samba has 4,152 positive cases, 1,125 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 60 deaths.
“Doda has 3,964 positive cases, 352 active positive, 3,542 recovered, 70 deaths; Reasi has 3,684 positive cases, 643 active positive, 3,021 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,167 positive cases, 519 active positive, 2,606 recovered, 42 deaths; Kishtwar has 3,018 positive cases, 132 active positive, 2,864 recovered, 22 deaths and Ramban has 2,813 positive cases, 344 active positive, 2,439 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 91,869 positive cases, 19,902 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
