Rain God’ rescues Jammu; Monsoon arrives 18 days earlier in J&K

Jammu, June 13: The Rain God has ultimately come to the rescue of the people of Jammu province who are facing the worst-ever power crisis amid scorching heat. Monsoon arrived 18 days earlier in J&K and Ladakh.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has formally announced the arrival of Monsoon in J&K and Ladakh.
“Monsoon over J&K and Ladakh: IMD has declared arrival of Monsoon over J&K and Ladakh today 13th June which is 17 -18 days ahead of normal onset date of 30th June or 1st July.
This Monsoon season, IMD has forecast Normal Monsoon Rain over the whole of J&K n Ladakh. Let's hope for the best.”, IMD officers tweeted from the official social media platform.
People of the Jammu region heave a sigh of relief with the arrival of the Monsoon because rains will bring down temperature. Already during the last 10 days, residents of Jammu are confronting with unprecedented power cuts as well as soaring temperature.
Meanwhile, according to data from the meteorological department Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius. While the temperature was 0.4 degrees Celsius below normal, it was six degrees less than previous day.
Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, recorded maximum of 33.4 degrees Celsius against previous day’s 38.0 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has forecast scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir divisions in the next 24 hours.

The weather department has also issued ‘yellow warning for “isolated lightning/ thundershowers with gusty wind 30- 40-kmph” for both Jammu and Kashmir divisions till June 15.
