Udhampur campus poised to become vibrant offsite Campus: JUVC

Jammu, June 18: Udhampur Campus of the University of Jammu is coming up at a fast pace in order to cater to the needs of the youth of the region, said Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu while on his visit to Udhampur Campus. The past few months have witnessed a spurt of activity in terms of infrastructure development in terms of the Academic block and the Boys Hostel.
The University is planning to transform the campus into a platform for startups and innovations for the youth in the region and also for providing facilities to young entrepreneurs who are looking for various services for accelerating their business. In this regard, before the onset of lockdown, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated Community Facilitation Centre (UCCFC) and Financial Literacy Campaign at Udhampur Campus in the month of February 2021.
In his interaction with the Faculty of the Campus, Prof Dhar exhorted that teaching faculty must take up research projects on the problems of local importance and publish research article in the journals of repute, which shall have a trickledown effect on students and scholars and shall orient them in the area of research. Prof Dhar directed Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, Rector Udhampur Campus, to prepare a futuristic proposal about the introduction of various courses and for infrastructural development. Prof Dhar took a round of the Campus and passed on-the-spot directions for augmenting various facilities for the students. Prof. Manhas informed that several new projects on Innovation and Incubation are in pipeline for which the University of Jammu SPV Foundation (a section 8 company of the University) will provide the necessary support.
The Rector thanked the Vice-Chancellor for taking a keen interest in various activities of the campus. He made a special mention about the fact that since about a decade the campus was functioning with meagre infrastructure, however, with the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, the Campus will shortly have a full-fledged Academic block having classrooms, a spacious library, computer laboratories, an auditorium, etc.
Later Prof. Dhar took a detailed review of the ongoing construction of the Academic/Administrative Block and that of the Boys hostel. Prof Dhar also directed Er. V. Sharma, Superintendent Engineer to ensure that no comprise is made in terms of the quality of the work and also ensure that provisions for ramps and rails are made for differently-abled students. He further directed for close monitoring of the construction works and ensure their completion by the targeted dates.
Among others, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Spl Secy to Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Imran Farooq, PRO to Vice-Chancellor, Er Suresh Sharma, Executive Engineer, and faculty, staff, and many others were present on the occasion.
