GDC Poonch organizes special interactive programme

Poonch, Aug 24: Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Rajouri in collaboration with Government Degree College, Poonch today organized a special interactive programme on “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav today at Government Degree College, Poonch.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, Principal Government Degree College, Poonch and Colonel P Santhil Kumar, Commanding Officder, 872 Light Regiment was the Chief Guest.
In his introductory address, Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah said that the actual aim of conducting this kind of a webinar on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav’ is to inculcate the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism among the masses & to showcase the contribution of freedom fighters especially the unsung heroes during the course of India’s freedom struggle.
He was of the view that a lot of sacrifices have been made by Indian’s to attain the Freedom and it is now our duty to make the Country Prosperous.
Colonel P Santhil Kumar while praising Brigadier Rajindera Singh for his immense contribution to save Kashmir from Pakistani rebels and his supreme sacrifice for the integrity of Nation.
He also said that such programmes play a pivotal role in generating awareness and should be organised on regular basis.
A poetry session in which renowned poets of Poonch viz. Sheikh Sajjad Hussain, Shri Pardeep Khanna, Shri Ehtsham Bhatt, Shri Jahamgir Asgar recited the poems in praise of Freedom struggle, Freedom Fighters and National Integration & Communal Harmony.
Shezad Bandey delivered a key note address on the life of Brigadier Rajinder Singh and paid homage to his supreme sacrifice. He appreciated the organisers for making people aware through such programme.
Earlier Shri Gurnam Singh, Incharge Field Outreach Bureau, Government of India, Rajouri welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Besides officers & students a galaxy of experts from Govt. Degree College, Poonch was also present.
