Srinagar, June 19: Police and Security forces in a joint operation on Sunday arrested three militants of Al-Badr outfit in sub district of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir who were tasked by their Pakistani handlers to carry out militant activities in the area, Police said. A joint party of Police Kralgund, 92Bn of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) intercepted three individuals at Wangam in Handwara in north Kashmir crossing on the National Highway. On preliminary questioning, the individuals were identified as Nazim Ahmad Bhat, Siraj din Khan, Adil Gull all residents of Khaipora, Kralgund. On their search, one pistol along with a magazine, eight rounds, and two hand grenades were recovered from their possession. Preliminary investigation suggests that the trio is affiliated with the banned terrorist organisation Al- Badr, and that they were assigned task by Pakistan based handlers to carry out terrorist acts in the area, Police said. Further investigation has been set in motion. |
