Forces thwart Pak’s Hamas-style attack on Jammu
Drones downed, missiles intercepted, Pakistani F-16 fighter jet shot down

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 8: Alert Indian Forces foiled another attempt by the Pakistani Army to attack vital installations in Jammu and adjoining localities.
The Pakistani Army launched a series of aggressive operations targeting multiple locations in the Jammu region of India.
Within hours of an earlier failed attempt to strike 15 military installations across India, the Pakistani Army initiated a second, more audacious wave of attacks. These assaults, described by defense sources as resembling Hamas-style tactics, aimed to destabilize critical infrastructure and military assets in the Jammu region.
Key Incidents Reported:
Pakistani F-16 Shot Down: Indian air defenses successfully neutralized a Pakistani F-16 aircraft, marking a significant escalation in aerial engagements.
Heavy Shelling Along LoC: Intense artillery barrages were reported in multiple sectors, including Tanghdhar, Poonch, and Rajouri, with Pakistani forces resorting to sustained heavy shelling to target Indian positions.
Drone Interceptions:
At Pathankot Air Force Station, Indian forces intercepted and neutralized Pakistani drones attempting to breach restricted airspace.
Two additional Pakistani drones were shot down near Jammu University, raising concerns about potential civilian targets.
Near the Jammu airport, which hosts a critical Indian Air Force station, security forces detected and downed several drones. One drone was observed dropping an unidentified object outside the airport perimeter, prompting heightened alerts.
According to defence sources, eight missiles launched from Pakistan, targeting Satwari, Samba, Pura, and Arnia, were successfully intercepted and neutralized by Indian Air Defence units, preventing significant damage or casualties.
Two powerful explosions near the Jammu airport caused widespread panic among residents. The blasts, coupled with the detection of Pakistani drones, triggered immediate countermeasures by
‘OPERATION SINDOOR’
Indian forces.
A citywide blackout was enforced in Jammu, plunging the region into darkness as a precautionary measure. The blackout coincided with reports of drones visible across the night sky, intensifying fears of a coordinated attack.
Initial reports suggest the Jammu airport’s airstrip was a primary target, though Indian forces’ swift response mitigated potential damage. The full extent of the attack remains under investigation.
Indian security forces have been placed on high alert, with anti-drone systems and air defense units actively neutralizing threats. The Indian military’s rapid response has so far prevented any major breaches or casualties, with all reported missile and drone incursions successfully countered. Countermeasures remain in place as Indian forces continue to monitor the situation and neutralize residual threats.
Jammu remains under heightened security, with residents advised to stay indoors amid ongoing operations. The blackout, while disruptive, is part of a broader strategy to safeguard critical infrastructure and prevent targeting by hostile forces. The Indian Air Force and Army are coordinating closely to restore normalcy while maintaining vigilance against further provocations.
The Pakistani military’s use of drones, missiles, and heavy artillery in a coordinated assault signals a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities. The adoption of Hamas-style tactics, characterized by surprise attacks and attempts to overwhelm defenses, underscores the evolving nature of the threat along the LoC. Indian authorities are investigating whether the drones were carrying explosives or surveillance equipment, as well as the broader strategic objectives of Pakistan’s actions.
As of now, the situation remains fluid, with Indian forces maintaining a robust defensive posture. Further updates are expected as authorities assess the full scope of the attacks and their implications for regional security.
