Srinagar, Sept 30: The victims whose houses collapsed across Jammu and Kashmir due to the devastating floods earlier this month may get another shock as the state Government has categorized their houses into Kucha and Pucca.
The State Government has asked the concerned Deputy Commissioners across the state to provide Rs 70,000 as compensation to the victims whose Pucca houses were washed away by the floods and Rs 17600 to those whose Kucha houses have been destroyed.
The order no. Rev/Camp/HN/ 2014 dated 23/09/2014/ issued by the Commaissioner Secretary Revenue, a copy of which is with Early Times states: "It has been reported that in some districts the ex-gratia is being paid as per old guidelines. In this connection I would like to inform you that norms by the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India were revised during November 2013.
