CBI unearths biggest-ever worldwide online investment fraud worth hundreds of crores

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 'Operation Chakra 2' unearthed an international online investment fraud worth hundreds of crores, targeting Indian citizens, and a cyber-enabled impersonation fraud targeting Singaporean citizens. In the first case, acting on various inputs received in 2022, including the one given by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under MHA, the CBI registered a case against sophisticated, organized cybercrime being perpetuated on Indian citizens by foreign scamsters in the name of investment, loan, and job opportunities. To evade detection, these criminals utilized a multi-layered approach involving UPI accounts, cryptocurrencies, and international money transfers. Allegedly, the fraudsters were using the advertisement tool of a well-known search engine as well as rented headers to send bulk SMS, thereby creating a web of deception. Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: Three persons were killed when a car they were travelling in met with an accident and it plunged into a deep gorge on Friday in Kishtwar district of J&K. Police said that a car on way from Kishtwar towards Thathri this afternoon skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Kandni, district Kishtwar. Apple-laden truck rolls down in Jammu outskirts, 4 die

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: Four people died when an apple-laden truck rolled down from the road in the Jhajjar Kotli area here in the city outskirts. Police on Friday said one truck loaded with apple boxes on the way from Kashmir towards Jammu late on Thursday night rolled down and fell on the old route on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Jhajjar Kotli. Two of the occupants and as many others were buried under the truck in the accident, police added. They said the rescue operation was immediately launched, but all four people were found dead.
