JMC term set to end on Oct 30, ULB elections unlikely | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: As elections for the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) have been delayed due to reasons known to those at the helm of the affairs suspense continues over the fate of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) after October 30.
The present Jammu Municipal Corporation was constituted on October 30, 2018, when newly elected corporators took oath.
As per chapter II of the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act 2000 under the title, Constitution of the Corporation, it is clearly mentioned that the Corporation, unless sooner dissolved under section 404 of this Act, shall constitute for five years from the date appointed for its first meeting.
The meeting of the Jammu Municipal Corporation was held on October 30, 2018, when elected corporators took oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony.
The ceremony was administered by the then Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma. The 75 corporators of JMC, including 27 women, took oath in English, Dogri, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Sanskrit.

Jammu, Oct 19: In a relief measure for Kashmiri migrant families residing in New Delhi, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved a substantial enhancement of the Adhoc Monthly Relief (AMR) they receive.
The AMR, which was previously set at Rs 10,000 per month, has now been increased to Rs 27,000 per month, marking a 170 per cent increase.

Srinagar, Oct 19: J&K police's Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Thursday conducted multiple raids in a terror case related to misuse of social media for threats and recruitment, officials said.

Srinagar, Oct 19: Police on Thursday arrested a person impersonating as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and defrauding the people in Budgam district, officials said.
Police said Budgam Police Station received a formal written complaint from one Ghulam Hassan Malik, a resident of Aalipora Putlibagh on October 18, 2023, about an alleged impersonation scam.
The applicant accused Ayush Koul, also known as “Vicky,” residing at Rose Lane No. 6, Rajbagh, Srinagar, of posing as an IAS officer and defrauding him of INR 6.5 lakh under the pretext of securing government employment for the applicant’s son”, police said.
