Not only Babus; Overnight rich clerks, police constables, other lower ranking officers escape Govt eye
10/21/2012 11:46:18 PM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Oct 21: Corrupt IAS, IFS and IPS officers do make news but few in Jammu and Kashmir Government have ever turned their attention towards overnight rich clerks, accountants, lower ranking police officers and prosecuting officers. Clerks are living in palatial mansions; prosecuting officers are buying hotels and restaurants and above all, lower ranking police officers have constructed extravagant houses in Bhathindi, Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar and Gandhi Nagar. A lower ranking police officer, presently posted in Udhampur has a palatial house in the posh locality of Gandhi Nagar. Another one has built a mansion in Bhathindi. A third one is constructing a huge palace in Channi Himmat. The land is on the name of his wife, who is working in another Government department. A Head Constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), who has managed a JDA plot at Roop Nagar for residential purposes has constructed around 20 shops by illegally and fraudulently converting residential area into commercial. A complaint, copy of which is with Early Times, reveals that the s...

Azad pays rich tributes to Martyrs

Abodh Sharma JAMMU, Oct 21: Former Chief Minister and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today gave a befitting reply to his detractors within and outside the party who had alleged that the Congress had sought postponement of BDC elections as it did not care for the empowerment of democratic institutions. Azad said that he had called for postponing the proposed elections of the Block Development Councils so that they could be held in the true spirit of the Panchayati Raj Act as envisioned by the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi by giving due reservation to the women and weaker sections. Azad had termed the BDC elections a 'futi...

10/21/2012 11:44:20 PM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Embarrassed by the growing in fight between factions in its Jammu and Kashmir Unit, the Congress high command in Delhi has swung into damage control mode and decided to bring the rival factions on table to iron out differences between them. Sources in the party revealed that the Congress high command is worried that the intensifying rivalry between senior leaders of the party could have a serious fall out on its performance in 2014 Assembly elections, which might weaken the position of the party in the State. Pertinently State Congress chief Pof. Saifudin Soz has been repeatedly saying that his party will be the King maker after 2014 elections. Howe...

Azad makes it to Jammu region yet again His presence seen more on non political platforms....?
10/21/2012 11:44:01 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 21: In less than a gap of one month, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad once again made it to Jammu region only to attend a non party function. The function, like some previous ones was not organized in proper Jammu, instead in Bishnah this time, some 12 kms from the winter capital, albeit amid a galaxy of party leaders, besides Union MOS for Parliamentary Affairs, Pawan Kumar Bansal. In other words it was a political function raised and wrapped on a non Congress, non political forum conveniently by the organizers. One did not see such a function for the first time attended among others by the former Chief Minister in various parts of Jammu. A quick rec...
