Commoners’ altogether standing in long queues and waiting for turn to get their railway ticket reserved and agents (Black Marketers) openly auctioning the reserved railway tickets, believe it or not but it’s a routine trait at the reservation counter of Railway Station Jammu. The agents are carrying out this illegal practice on the behest of railway higher ups as they use to share the percentage of commission charged by these agents from the travelers, as per sources.
These agents are freely and openly operating in the reservation section under the patronage of Chief Reservation Supervisor (CRS), Railway Station Jammu, as divulged by some highly placed sources of railway department. In lieu of handsome commission, railway officials provide free access to agents inside the railway reservation counters. Sources confirmed that agents use to charge anything between Rs 100- 300 per ticket from the needy travelers and out of this handsome commission indirectly passes to the top railway official through other intermediaries.
