Jammu, July 3: On the second consecutive day, a massive search and combing operation continued in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district following the sighting of a terrorist group and a brief encounter that took place on Wednesday evening.
The intensified operation comes in the wake of a major breakthrough earlier this year—the elimination of dreaded Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander Saifullah—as security forces aim to root out terrorism from the region entirely.
On April 12, Saifullah, a top JeM terrorist and self-styled commander, was killed in a fierce encounter in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar. A native of Pakistan, Saifullah had been operating in the mountainous belt of Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and Kathua, and was involved in several deadly attacks targeting both civilians and security personnel. Jammu, July 3: Four days after his apprehension along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammed Arif Ahmed, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), remains uncooperative with investigating agencies, sources revealed on Thursday.

Pahalgam/Jammu, July 3: Amid unprecedented security arrangements, the annual Amarnath Yatra commenced on Thursday with more than 12000 pilgrims paying obeisance at the holy cave shrine, nestled in Himalayas.
Officials said that till 7:15 PM, a total of 12,348 pilgrims paid obeisance. “The devotees included 9,181 males and 2,223 females. Srinagar, July 3: Kashmir Police has issued an advisory for devotees undertaking the Amarnath Yatra, urging them to travel only in designated convoys. The 38-day pilgrimage commenced on Thursday and is taking place in the shadow of the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead.
