Jammu, Aug 9: In an obvious snub to the anti-graft campaign, the Finance and Lal Minister Tariq Hamid Karra has objected to the State Vigilance Organisation's (SVO) request for reopening a case in which the chief minister had dropped charges against the accused officers.
"There should be some finality in the decision of the competent authority (Chief Minister)," said Karra.
The SVO had sought reconsideration of the cases involving some senior officials of the health ministry who were accused of corruption in purchases made for the department in 1999-2000.

Jammu, Aug 9: The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service is proving useful to the Indian Army and other security agencies in negotiating surrenders of Kashmiri militants living in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and other parts of Pakistan.
An Indian army officer in Srinagar said that since the launch of bus service in April 2005, they have persuaded 200 militants to return to the Indian side to live normal life.. For the past one year, authorities have facilitated the issuance of travel documents to a number of people to board the cross-LoC bus, with the mission being to persuade youth in militant camps set up in PoK to surrender to the Indian Army, sources added.
