Campus controversy reveals wide cracks in National Conference

Early Times Reporter Jammu, Sept 11: The brief politicization of controversy going in the Jammu University, though have demonstrated the absolute sway which Vice Chancellor Prof Amitabh Mattoo wields, but at the same time it has exposed the chinks within the ranks of the National Conference which has been claiming to regain power in next assembly elections. In a much delayed but well expected fallout between the Vice Chancellor and Prof Rekha Chowdhary, the National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra had jumped into the campus controversy vowing to expose Prof Mattoo for his alleged 'dictatorial attitude' besides other things. For a while Sadhotra's statements were seen as National Conference's stand against the Vice Chancellor. However, in a quick succession of things, the National Conference patron and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah visited the Vice Chancellor to convey message that his party was with Prof Mattoo. Surinder Raina Jammu Sept-11 BSNL, one of the largest network service providers in the country has failed to provide uninterrupted and smooth service to the customers in Jammu and Kashmir especially in Jammu region. Its tall assurances have failed on the ground with no body to take care of the customers’ problems. Though the private net work service providers joined late in the state but have been doing good business to the entire satisfaction of the customers. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 11 Gang of thieves struck in Gandhi Nagar area and looted a mobile shop and also targeted State Bank of India ATM. The police was still clueless despite passing off nearly 24 hours. According to reports, thieves looted a wholesale mobile phone shop in posh Gandhi Nagar area last night and took 11 mobile phones, 9 DVD, one TV, 11 memory cards and some cash from there. The owner of shop when today morning came to his shop he was stuck to found valuables missing from the shop and immediately informed the police .A police team from Gandhi Nagar Police station rushed to the spot and took fingerprints from the spot and started investigation. Govind Chouhan Jammu | Sep 11 Top HM commander Altaf Ahmed son of Gulam Ahmed Khan resident of Gounthal, Surankote, who is currently lodged in Akhnoor police station, is likely to be shifted to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) here today. According to sources, Altaf was shifted to police station Akhnoor from Surankote under tight security on Monday evening and during interrogation he confessed to have given the consignment to Nahida. He also confessed that after his release from the jail in March last after eight years, he rejoined the militant ranks again and was actively involved in militant activities.
