Special Squad nabs drug dealers, DySP strikes deal to let them off
6/8/2018 11:22:34 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 8: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) ranked officer posted in Jammu-Samba-Kathua range took full advantage of the absence of one of his Station House Officers (SHOs) as the former let off two drug peddlers nabbed with a consignment of drugs after taking a huge amount from the duo.
Sources informed Early Times that the duo who was apprehended had been shown as minors while a case was registered only against the driver of the truck in which the contraband was being smuggled, adding that the DySP earned quick bucks from the entire issue as he took maximum benefit of concerned SHO's leave.
Sources said that a naka was laid by a special squad of the police at a spot in one of the districts in Jammu-Samba-Kathua range and the DySP was part of the team.
"Since the concerned SHO was on leave, the DySP himself reached the naka spot. The special squad had substantiated information that a huge consignment of drugs is being transported in a truck from Kashmir Valley. As soon as the truck reached the spot, it was stopped and thorough search of the vehicle was conducted upon which the drugs were recovered," sources said.
"Three persons including the driver of the truck were apprehended. The special squad handed over the seized substance and persons nabbed to the local police and left the venue. As soon as the special team left, the DySP managed to strike a deal with two of the arrested persons and their contacts in the Valley. The DySP spared the duo after he received several phone calls that he will get a huge amount in lieu of the favour," sources added.
Sources said that in order to execute the game plan, the entry made in the police station's record depicted that the duo apprehended along with the truck driver was minors due to which both of them had been released. The case was registered only against the truck driver and the recovery made during the searches has also been entered against his name.
"The entire execution was done so smartly by the DySP that the senior police officers could not trace it out. The DySP remained in the concerned police station for a very long duration on that particular day when the entire episode happened so as to ensure that not even a single senior police officer should get any idea about what exactly transpired between him and the released duo," sources said.
Sources said while it was amply clear that the released duo was the mastermind behind drug smuggling attempt and the truck driver was only transporting the banned substance, still the real culprits got away scot free in lieu of monetary benefits and the driver was made a scapegoat.
