Lifer to accused for killing father-in-law, his six months old son

Jammu, SEPT 28 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur AK Koul today awarded rigorous imprisonment of life and fine Rs 10,000 to Des Raj in cold blooded murder of his father-in-law and his own six months old son for compelling his father-in-law to hand-over his property to him. According to the police case, on August 9, 2002 a source report was received in police station Chenani. The report revealed that the accused was living in the house of Kamlu (deceased No.1) as his live in son-in-law and on 18th August at about 10.30 P.M, the accused picked up a quarrel with deceased No.1 to grab his property and attacked the deceased No.1 with a chopper with the intention to kill him. He attacked him repeatedly and killed him on spot whereafter the accused also attacked his suckling baby namely Tiblu (deceased No.2), with the same weapon and killed him as well. On receiving this information a case u/s 302/307 RPC was registered. After completion of investigation challan was presented in the Court of law. While awarding sentence, Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur AK Koul after hearing Public Prosecutor Navneet Gupta appearing for the state whereas Advocate Jarnail Singh appearing for the accused observed that the accused has committed a ghastly crime in a very brutal manner. Both the deceased were unarmed and without any resistance on their part the accused killed both of them in a cruel manner within a few minutes and that too over a very trivial issue. So while convicting accused u/ss 302/307 RPC Court sentence him to rigorous imprisonment for life for commission of offence u/s 302 RPC and also to a fine of Rs.10,000/- . He is also sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for five years and a fine of Rs.2000/- for commission of Offence u/s 307 RPC. In default of payment of fine the accused would undergo a further imprisonment for a period of two months. The sentences would run concurrently.
