| Dy CM flags off BSF Bharat Darshan Tour | | Lauds multifaceted role of force | |

JAMMU, Sept 28: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today flagged off Bharat Darshan Tour 2012. The tour comprising of 40 children from remote areas of Jammu has been organized by BSF, Jammu. The first of its kind tour would take the children by air to different parts of the country and expose them to various cultures, historical sites and famous landmark places. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister lauded role of the Border Security Force in guarding borders of the Nation and appreciated efforts of the force to connect with people living in remote areas by initiating various people friendly programs. He said besides defending the borders the force has played a significant role during turmoil period of militancy in the state. "We highly appreciate multifaceted role the force is playing in the state, on one hand you people are doing your security duty while at the same time different public welfare steps have also been taken like organizing free health camps, Bharat Darshan tours, constructing panchayat ghars, distributing sports kits etc.," he added. He said military as well as para-military forces of the country are among the best in the world and have proved their mettle in serving assignments all over the world, adding that the nation is proud of its courageous soldiers. While welcoming the initiative of taking the children on Bharat Darshan tour by air, Tara Chand said that the tour would be a lifetime experience for the participants, as most of them belong to a region where even regular bus service is a privilege. He said the commendable step would dent a mark on the young minds and would go a long way in inculcating spirit of national integration, equality and brotherhood. He said during the tour the children would be visiting National heritage sites, famous temples, mosques, Arabian Sea, modern engineering marvels like Metro rail besides getting exposure to different cultures existing within the country, thus strengthening in their minds the concept of unity among diversity. The Deputy Chief Minister also distributed gifts to the touring students. On the occasion DIG J.S. Oberoi threw light on background of the Bharat Darshan tour and on various tour itineraries of the present tour. DIG N.S. Jamwal presented a resume of the activities undertaken by the BSF Jammu for public welfare and well being of the people. He highlighted that the BSF has already undertaken such tours to Northern, Central and Southern States in which 457 students have availed the opportunity. The 10 day long tour would take the children to Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Agra, Delhi and Mysore. The children would also get a chance to meet Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chief Minister, Gujrat Narinder Modi. |
