NEW DELHI, Sept 28: Nitin Gadkari is all set to become the President of BJP for next three year term. The proposal in this regard was approved by Party National Council meeting at Suraj Kund Haryana today. Gadkari a staunch RSS man was appointed President of BJP in 2009 after succeeding Raj Nath Singh. In this connection BJP today amended its constitution enabling the party president, state and district president to get a second term which paves the way for Gadkari to seek another term for the post after he completes his present tenure in December. It may be recalled that RSS chief Dr Mohan Rao Bhagwat and other leaders of the Sangh had impressed upon BJP leadership to appoint Gadkari as Party Chief and this time again RSS leadership exerted pressure on BJP to extend his term for next term. The proposal was adopted by a voice vote by the National Council. After the smooth sailing of Gadkari BJP will hold election process in the states from October first and the entire process will be completed by November end, a Party spokesman told Early Times today. He said the National Council also adopted a resolution strongly condemning attack on Sarpanchs and Panchs in J&K state. Highlighting the issue former BJP National President , Raj Nath Singh who is also heading the BJP Parliamentary Group to J&K said that it is a grave matter. Singh while expressing concern over the killing of Sarpanchs and Panches accused the state and central government of their failure to provide security to Panchs and sarpanchs in J&K. Singh while strongly advocating for implementation of constitutional 73rd and 74th amendment of Indian constitution in the state said that this will empower Panchayats in the state. The National Council while strongly condemning the killings of Sarpanchs and Panchs stressed on security of Sarpanchs besides implementation of 73rd and 74th constitutional amendment. It also took congress to task for shedding crocodile tears on empowerment of panchayats in J&K saying Party is bound to get the constitutional amendments implemented in state or quit from coalition. In its political resolution the BJP opposed the resolutions adopted by Gilgit- Baltistan legislative assembly for giving complete provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan area. The resolution to this effect was adopted by Dr Jitendra Singh and it was seconded by Raj Nath Singh. It while taking strong exception to Pakistan Government's action said Gilgit-Baltistan is an integral part of J&K which has been forcibly occupied by Pakistan and the resolution adopted by Gilgit-Baltistan assembly was in violation of democratic and diplomatic norms. Because Gilgit-Baltistan is an integral part of state of J&K thereby is an integral part of India. |
