| KC public school hosts mega quiz event | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Oct 8 : Seventeen CBSE affiliated schools of Jammu and neighbouring towns took part in the inaugural mega quiz launched by KC Public School on October 7. This is the second Inter School annual event KCPS has initiated, the first being the Shakuntala Devi Inter School Basketball Tournament launched in 2011. The schools taking part in the quiz were the host school KCPS, KC International, BSF School, JK Public School, Heritage School, GD Goenka School, Jodhamal Public School, Sainik School Nagrota, APS Nagrota, APS Damana, APS Kaluchak, APS Ratnuchak, Stephens International School, Air Force School, Presentation Convent, Banyan International School and SOS Hermann Gmeiner School. The contest was held on the vast outdoor stage of the school which had been done up to make an apt set for a quiz competition. Nearly 600 students of host school and participating schools formed the responsive audience who cheered their school teams enthusiastically. The quiz began with an Innings round in which all the 12 teams selected to make the quiz panel through a written screening test answered 4 questions each as parts of four pools containing three teams each. At the end of this round, one team from each pool got eliminated on the basis of lowest score. The remaining 8 teams then moved on to the quarter final stage with only 2 teams in each pool. After answering 4 questions each at this stage, 4 teams made it to the semi finals on the basis of their higher score. The race for the final stage turned intense with the degree of difficulty of questions rising several notches higher. Eventually, APS Nagrota and Presentation Convent School and School made it to the finals. In a highly charged atmosphere, the finalists vied with each other in getting the right answer and, in the long run Ayush Sharma and Dheeraj Kumar of APS Nagrota emerged quizzing champions of the Inaugural Edition of QUIZ-ZONE 2012. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof Nisar Ahmed Ganai, the Principal of KC Law College who distributed the awards to the winners and participants. In his speech, he commended all the schools for their keen interest in quizzing and congratulated the winners. |
