Should peace precede or proceed creation of employment avenues in J&K?

Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 8: The incident of three persons trying to interrupt the proceedings of the in session State Legislative Assembly is unprecedented as it pertains to the burning issue of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is against the democratic discipline that anybody should try to interrupt the proceedings of the august House. This having been said, one cannot overlook the reasons for the frustration of our young boys and girls who are educated, professionally qualified and yet unemployed in thousands.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reacted to the incident by saying there was no security breach in the incident as the three persons had obtained valid passes from an MLA. The CM also ruled out any security threat to the elected members saying the persons had been unarmed and therefore they did not create any security threat to the members of the house.
Yet, the CM admitted that after law and order the growing unemployment in the State was a huge problem. He said over six lakh educated youths were unemployed and the problem had become a major one for the State. The problem of educated unemployed youths in the State is a burning problem as it concerns those who constitute the future of the State and the country.
President, Pranab Mukherjee who delivered the convocational address at the 18th convocation of Kashmir University recently told the youths of the State that they had the talent and the capacity to shape the future of India through their participation in various vital sectors. The question is where do the educated unemployed young boys and girls go after they obtain their hard earned degree certificates? The recent visit of Rahul Gandhi to the Valley with a battery of country's corporate bosses has generated a lot of debate, but as the visit fades into oblivion, so do the hopes and aspirations of thousands of youths who could be looking forward to be benefitted by the corporate forays into the State.
Most of those corporate magnates who interacted with the young boys and girls have said that peace was imperative for any outside investment to come to Kashmir. Yet, it is a mind boggling question whether peace can be brought in logically without addressing the problem of unemployment in the State? It is like the proverbial question whether the hen came first or the egg.
Peace must precede investment and creation of employment avenues in J&K. This logic of the corporate bosses is politically incorrect. Those who know the real problem would agree that peace would proceed not precede employment in the State.
