Inter-district divisional level competitions of DYSS
Reasi boys, girls excel in U-14 Fencing

JAMMU, Oct 8: District Reasi dominated in girls and boys under-14 fencing competition in the divisional level inter-district tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Except for boys' Epee event, wherein Rakesh of Udhampur bagged gold, district Reasi clinched first positions in all other categories decided on the opening day today. Earlier, the competition was declared open by District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi, Dr Swarn Singh.
The Detailed Results:
GIRLS: Foil: Bharti, Reasi, Ist; Shaheen, Reasi, 2nd; Neha, Reasi and Vidhushi, Reasi, joint 3rd. Sabre: Koeffika Kofi, Reasi, Ist; Bhargavi, Jammu, 2nd; Himani, Reasi and Shivanshi, Reasi, joint 3rd. BOYS: Epee: Rakesh, Udhampur, Ist; Vikas, Reasi, 2nd; Abhishek, Reasi and Ankush, Udhampur, joint 3rd. Sabre: Vishaw, Reasi, Ist; Nikhil, Reasi, 2nd; Umesh, Udhampur and Himanshi, Udhampur, joint 3rd.
FOOTBALL: Winning start by Udhampur, Samba
District Udhampur and Samba made a winning start today when they beat their respective opponents comfortably to move into the next round of the inter-district divisional level under-19 boys' competition got underway at GGM Science College ground.
In the first match, Udhampur trounced district Kathua by four goals to one. Animesh Bakshi struck twice to help Udhapur make it a big win. From Kathua, Lalit Verma reduced the margin. Similarly, the second match was won by district Samba outplaying Poonch 5-0. Mohit netted the ball twice while Amandeep, Anubhav and Vikas added one goal each to the team's tally.
In all, seven districts of Jammu division are taking part in this knock-out event. The participating teams represent districts of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Poonch and Kishtwar.
Earlier, the football competition was declared open by District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Tirath Ram.
BADMINTON: Jammu, Poonch, Udhampur win
Meanwhile, in inter-district divisional level boys and girls under-17 and under-14 events, district Udhampur, Poonch and Jammu won their respective matches to move ahead.
While Udhampur won both of their matches in under-17 girls and under-14 boys, Poonch registered win in under-17 boys. Jammu district won their match against district Udhampur in under 17 boys group.
Earlier, the badminton competition was declared open by District officer, Reasi, Dr Swarn Singh.

Boys Under-17 yr: Poonch bt Kishtwar 2-0: Gourav bt Dheeraj 21-19, 21-08; Asib bt Sarabpreet 21-14, 16-21, 21-11. Jammu bt Udhampur 2-0: Divam bt Dhanajay 21-09, 21-18; Lalin and Parth bt Dhanajay and Manpreet 21-09, 21-13.
Boys Under-14 yr: Udhampur bt Poonch 2-0: Harsh bt Shahbaz Ali 21-12, 21-10; Harsh and Gourav bt Mohd Sameen and Rajat Puri 21-09, 21-09.
Girls: Under-17 yr: Udhampur bt Kishtwar 2-0: Shefalika bt Stanzin Dolma 21-14, 21-09; Shefalika and Malti bt Priya and Stanzin 21-18, 21-13.
