| Dust settles on JKDF 'episode'……. | | But confusion confounded on political affiliations of 7 MLAs….! | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: With the three JKDF activists finally getting released, even as the dust has settled on the 'high drama' they created inside the J&K Assembly last week, certain questions remain unanswered, rather enveloped in political ambiguity, particularly with regard to the role and conduct of the 7 MLAs led by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta vis-à-vis this episode. An air of confusion still prevails as to the political affiliations of these MLAs, which no matter is being given to understand out of apparent compulsions. When this episode happened inside the Assembly amid proceedings of the House, a furore was followed by prompt instructions of probe by the Speaker to establish the identity of the three persons. The modus operandi of the activists in creating ruckus inside the House when the proceedings were on was also instantly condemned by all including the main opposition party leaders PDP, no matter they supported the cause these youth raked up, unemployment being the burning issue NC led coalition has failed to address. Interestingly, almost all the BJP members , including the 'bonafide' four , as also the 7 in the splinter group who have been expelled remained non commentative, not even coming out in opposition nor in support of the three youth. While one wonders at the silence of the four BJP MLAs , which only reflected their duplicity for a cause they claim to be championing for Jammu youth through its Yuva Morcha in a pro active manner, they did not utter a word , unlike PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and other leaders of the party took on government contending that youth were forced to take such courses because of wrong policies of the government. Now the point here is not to comment on the cause and enactment of the scenes in the Assembly but to have some answers on strategy adopted by the 7 MLAs in particular. As soon as it was disclosed that three youth had gained entry with passes facilitated by one of the MLAs Jagdish Sapolia, out of fear of some action or other reason, he distanced from them, and even refused to acknowledge their identity. Same was the response from others including the veteran leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, who clearly kept themselves at safe distance, as if they did not know them nor had any knowledge of the party the banners of which the youth waved inside the Assembly, whereas the fact remains just opposite to what was being given to understand. While that was a strategic move, no matter it created more confusion than any clarity about their future course in politics, the moot question remains is this group of MLAs is truly and keenly waiting for an opportunity for moving back into the BJP's fold ….? If so, how much time would they give themselves and the BJP to make it happen, and make a clear air on their political affiliations and end the kind of uncertainty and confusion at present.
