Jammu, Oct 29: In what can be seen as a reality check of their ‘strength’ in terms of supporters and workers in constituencies dominated by Congress, the leaders from J&K including legislators and senior functionaries are readying themselves for a ‘mega show’ for the Party being organized at Ram Lila Ground in New Delhi on November 4. The J&K unit of Congress and the leaders who enjoy massive following of supporters have been directed by the Central leadership to make arrangements and facilitate transportation of as many workers for what is being considered to be biggest ever rally organized by the High command in recent years.
Sources said following instructions from the High Command the Congress leaders based in Jammu as well from Kashmir have engaged themselves in the arrangements as requisitioned from concerned quarters in order to make the Ram Lila Maidan event a grand success in so far as the number of workers and cadres attending this rally is concerned. Sources said while the party leaders are busy in arranging a huge and thick cover of ‘audience’ from their respective areas, massive preparations are already apace in New Delhi for thousands of workers from outside , almost all states, particularly those ruled by the party.
The rally is being viewed as the show of strength by the High Command post some unpleasant developments which went against Congress in particular and UPA-2 in general. The Maha Rally is also being seen by the political observers as a major step to refurbish its image and boost the sagging morale of workers at the ground level in the backdrop of some brazen allegations leveled against its leaders, performance of the government led by this party which remained under constant attack over many issues during the last over one year.
Since this would be biggest ever rally by the party in recent times, it is to be addressed by the UPA chairperson and party president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh besides other stalwarts of the party . Sources said the purpose of organizing the rally at this juncture is also to give a message to the entire nation and political corridors which matter that despite under attack and having remained in centre stage of controversies one after the other, Congress still enjoys massive support , which the leadership wants to convey and reflect through this show of strength . This is why as many supporters and workers from outside the New Delhi are being sought to be ‘fetched’ for the rally in order to make the ‘audience’ look massive in numbers.
