Kishtwar October 29:- Situation continues to be tense in Kishtwar District after three youths from Passarkot of Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District allegedly created a blasphemous page (http://www.facebook.com/bcpakistan (now blocked) on social networking site triggering strong protests across the region.
The protests broke out in Chatroo and later spread to other parts of Kishtwar as unruly mob attacked police station Chatroo and vandalized few vehicles and accused police of being soft over the issue. As soon as the blasphemous page showing morphed pictures of Islam and Quran appeared on the facebook, it spread like a wild fire and created chaos and anger among the Muslim community. Though the police and administration sprung into action and arrested all the three accused, beside blocking the blasphemous page with the help of IB, by that time thousands of people were already on road and blocked main road outside Deputy Commissioner Office Kishtwar, raising Pro Azadi/Pro Pakistan slogans.
Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar first gave ultimatum to District administration urging them to act against the culprits, but later gave a bandh call asking the people to assemble inside Jamia Masjid Kishtwar. Following the announcement, thousands of people came to streets and started marching on main road. Few protestors also pelted stone on police station Kishtwar, but with the timely intervention of few elders, the situation was brought under control. Following four hour long protest, Deputy Commission Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary issued order No: DCK/12/1235-39 ordering termination of the services of the two government teachers with immediate effect pending inquiry.
As per the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, prima facie involvement of accused Kishori lal Sharma son of Sohan Lal Sharma, Kirti Sharma son of Mohan Lal Sharma his bother resident of Passarkot Chatroo and Bansi Lal son of Raj Ram resident of Khariyan Chatroo was established for resorting to anti Islamic campaign on internet.
When contacted Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar assured stern action against the accused. He said that administration will not allow anyone to communalize the situation. Meanwhile police party led by Dy. SP (DAR) Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh arrested all the three accused.
It is worthwhile to mention that soon after blasphemous page appeared on facebook, “Early Times” received several calls from the general public condemning the creation of anti Islamic page on facebook.

Accused denies allegation
Kishtwar October 29:- The prime accused has meanwhile denied the allegation levelled against him. When Early Times contacted Kishori before he was arrested by the Chatroo police, he said that he was unaware about the issue and said that he had not used facebook since last one month. While claiming innocence, Kishore said that someone among his friends tagged him photographs from blasphemous facebook page.
