| Unhygienic condition of Sadiqabad irks residents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
DODA, Nov 20: The insanitary conditions of Ward No 12, Mohalla Sadiqabad earlier called Dhak Mohalla are posing a grave threat to the life and property of the residents of this particular ward. The dilapidated lanes and drains, the heavily chocked nallahs that flow down the two sides of the locality and the apathy of the Municipal authorities towards the residents has made the life of the poor residents of this locality miserable. The chocked nallahs overflow into the residential houses causing damage to the structures as well as the belongings of the residents. Despite repeated requests to the Municipal Committee officials no sanitation measures for this particular locality have been taken by them. "The locality presents a picture of gloom and neglect. Almost all the safaiwallahs of the MC Doda belong to this locality but the officials of the MC have somehow instructed them not to attend to this ward," said Akhter Hussain, a resident of Sadiqabad. "The park constructed a decade ago by the Rural Development Department has over the years become a dumping site for garbage," he said. "Our residential houses are at the verge of collapse as the water of chocked drains and nallahs has caused seepage in our houses. There is no one to listen to our woes. There seems to be no one to address our grievances. The officials of the Municipal Committee have adopted a step-motherly treatment to our locality due to which we are made to suffer for no fault of ours," said Nizam Din Gattu another resident of Sadiqabad. Gh. Hussain sheikh of the same locality stated that it is incomprehensible as to what has made the Municipal Committee Doda to totally ignore this ward for the last eight years."Our children and aged are the worst sufferers of the insanitary conditions prevailing in our ward. Foul smell emanating from the nallahs and drains have made a hell of our life," he said. Amidst the complaints of overall insanitation in Doda town the MC officials and the district administration have adopted an ostrich like attitude presuming that all is well with the up-keep of this dusty town. |
