EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 20: Kritika Sethi from The Law School, University of Jammu, was adjudged as first in the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Debating Competition on Population Education organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Ishtiaq Ahmed and Sahil Mehta, both from the Govt. MAM College, Jammu, bagged the second and third prize, respectively. The lone consolation prize was awarded to Tanima Dutta from Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu The cash prizes amounting to Rs. 2000, Rs. 1500, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 respectively were presented to the winners by Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu. The topic of the debate was In the Opinion of the House "State is responsible for declining sex ratio in India". The students expressed their views for and against the preposition. The participating teams included Bhaskar Degree College, Udhampur, NSM College of Education, Govt. Degree College, Samba, Govt. Women College, Parade, Govt. College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, MIER College of Education, Govt. Degree College, R.S. Pura, M.I.E.T College, Govt. Degree College, Doda, GGM Science College, Jammu, Govt. Women College, Kathua, Govt. Degree College, Rajouri, The Law School, University of Jammu, Govt. MAM College, Jammu and Govt. SPMR College of Commerce. Dr. Kavita Suri, Dr. Anju Thappa and Dr. Priyanka Katoch were the members of jury for this competition. Dr. Vishvaraksha, Teacher Incharge of the event, also expressed her views on the topic as well as appraised the participants about the Rules and Regulations. The programme was compeered by Divya Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council, compeered the programme. Prof. Neeru Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, was Chief Guest on this occasion while Prof Jasbir Singh, Department of Economics was Guest of Honour whereas Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, presided over the function. |
