Jammu, Jan 28 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur AK Koul today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 20,000 each to accused Sanjay Kumar alias Rinku and Jatinder Singh alias Dimple who committed rape with a girl of 8th class student.
On May 25, 2005 prosecutrix , a student of 8th standard was raped by two accused after offering her intoxicating substance.
The court after hearing both sides observed that the accused deserve a punishment which is proportionate to the crime committed by them. So while convicting accused u/s 376(2) (g) /342/34 RPC.
Court sentenced each of them, to rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years and a fine of Rs.20,000/- for commission of offence u/s 376 (2) (g) of RPC, and also to rigorous imprisonment of one year for commission of offence u/s 342 RPC. In case of default in payment of fine each accused would undergo an imprisonment for a further period of two months. The sentences shall run concurrently.
The accused are on bail. Their bail stands cancelled. They shall be taken in custody immediately and committed to Jail to serve the sentence. |
