| Villagers protest against Tourism Minister in Dooru | | | Saahil Suhail
ANANTNAG, Jan 28: Hundreds of village dwellers here in South Kashmir's Shangran Dooru today protested against the concerned Member of Legislative Assembly who was recently inducted as Tourism Minister in the state cabinet for allegedly ignoring the Village on developmental front. Scores of people including women and children today assembled in the village and started raising slogans against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Dooru Shahabad, Ghulam Ahmad Mir for keeping village far behind the on the development front. Villagers leveled allegations that the area was discriminated politically and people are suffering due to the apathetic attitude of state government and concerned MLA. "In 21st Century we have no road connectivity; our road was constructed in 1971 and since then road was never macadamized." Angry protester, Mohd Ayoub Dar claimed and said, after election campaign in 2008 we have never seen our MLA who is now-a-days Tourism minister." He never visited the village and keep ignoring us." He said. Locals said that the 5 km's long road was never macadamized and due bad condition of the road two women lost their lives in last year. They said that distribution system of Power has also gone in its worst stage as the department has never changed the poles and transmission lines in the village. "Dandward has been given all facilities by the government and concerned MLA having less population than Shangran." Dar said, adding Shangran has more than 800 households who are suffering due to apathetic attitude of the government and concerned MLA. Locals said that Sub Health Centre in the village is running without staff. "We have a sub-centre of health department but that too without staff only one lady is there we don't know what he can do." Villagers said. Protesters said that the present government has failed on every aspect. "What chief Minister is claiming? His claims are baseless; does he know where shangran is? He failed in providing basic amenities to people." said Farooq Ahmad, alleging that they are benefiting only vote bank areas. However, when contacted MLA Dooru Shahabad, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who is presently Tourism Minister, rebutted the allegations of villagers. |
