| Priya Sethi takes over as BJP Mahila Morcha president | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28 : Newly nominated State president of BJP Mahila Morcha Priya Sethi formally took over his new responsibility in a function held here on Monday. She, alongwith the BJP State vice-president and Mahila Morcha former president Sakina Bano were felicitated in a function in presence of BJP state president Jugal Kishore Sharma, State general secretary Ashok Koul, Kavinder Gupta and Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency Incharge Yudhvir Sethi. Congratulating the new incumbent, Sharma said that Mahila Morcha was a very important organ of the party and the same is clear from party high command's decision to grant 33 percent reservation to the women in its organizational setup. He said the party was committed for the political empowerment of the women at all levels so that they become party to the decision making bodies and play an effective role to ensure that legislations aimed at welfare of the women are framed properly and implemented in letter and spirit. Ashok Koul said that be it a political party, social organization or any other such dispensation, it cannot flourish and achieve the goal without the active involvement of the women. "Only male dominated society cannot survive. We have 50 per cent population of women in the country and hence the other 50 per cent population of the men cannot be the sole decision makers for the progress of the country," he said. Sakina Bano, while expressing gratitude to the party for her elevation to the post of State vice-president said, "During the last three years my team of Mahila Morcha did its best to do justice with the responsibilities and I am satisfied that I could take forward the party's programmes to the masses in a effective way." Priya Sethi said that it is indeed a reward of her past services to the party in different positions. "This new responsibility is a challenge and my experience will obviously be helpful to me in this charging my duties as State President BJP Mahila Morcha," she added. |
