Tara, Bhalla, ors pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

Jammu, Jan 30: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand paid floral tributes to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 65th martyrdom at a tribute paying function organized by Gandhi Global Family (GGF), here today at Dewan-e-aam, Mubarak Mandi complex.
A large number of students from government and private educational institutions, senior civil and police officers, prominent citizens and GGF members also paid respect to the Father of Nation at the function.
In his address, Deputy Chief Minister said that Gandhi ji always spread the message of non-violence and emerged as one of the greatest leaders in the history of mankind. "We all should take a pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence to make our society and nation free from all evils," he added.
He said that Gandhiji's movement of Satya Graha, Dandi March and Quit India Movement based on the cardinal principles of truth and non-violence won India freedom from the clutches of the British. He said these principles were universally endorsed and is equally relevant today and continues to be so for all times to come. He said that he himself is a great admirer and follower of Bapu Ji and urged the younger generation to work hard and adopt Gandhian ideology.
Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla also paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation at a function held at Satwari. The function was organized by the 'Mahatma Gandhi Intellectual Society', Jammu Cant at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla described Mahatma Gandhi an apostle of peace and the real architect of freedom movement of India. He said that he led the "Freedom Movement by following the path of non- violence, peace and truth". He informed that Mahatma Gandhi has become an international figure and even the highest International Organization i.e. UN have recognized this fact and Gandhi Jayanti is being celebrated all over the world as International Day.
JKPCC: The 75th Martyrdom of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji was observed by the Congress party Head Quarter, here today. The function was presided over Senior Vice President PCC Dharampal Sharma-Ex-MP and attended by senior leaders of PCC, DCC Jammu urban, Mahila Congress and blocks of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the senior congress leaders said that the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi is becoming more relevant with every passing day. The entire World tries to learn a lesson from his life and principles. His philosophy holds the key to peace and harmony in the World. He taught non-violence and tolerance to deal with all issues confronting the humanity.
Prominent amongst them included S. Gurmukh Singh-Vice President PCC, General Secretary and Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma-MLC, President DCC Jammu Urban Om Chopra-Ex-MLA, Kuldip Raj Verma-Vice Chairman OBC Board, Mehrajuddin Zargar, President Mahila Congress Indu Pawar-MLA, D.S.Langeh-Working President DCC Jammu Urban, K. L. Gupta, Mohammad Abdullah Nadaf-Senior leader, S.R. Sudhir and Comrade Jaswant Singh. A two minutes silence was observed and his famous Bhajan Raghupati Rag Viraza Ram was also chanted on the occasion.
Sacred Heart College: SHC of Education also paid floral tributes to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. Managing Director, SHC Hari Singh Chib remembered his contribution, and his struggle for Indian freedom, how he adopted the ways of non-violence and ultimately succeed in getting freedom.
Principal of the college Dr. K.K. Tiwari called Gandhi Ji the soul of Indian freedom. He also threw light on the various achievements done for the free country.
