| Govt unable to take decision on Sahai's replacement? | | | Early TImes Report
Jammu, Jan 30: The inability of the State government to issue promotion/posting orders of police officers to the ranks of ADGs, IGPs and DIGs after the DPCs cleared those promotions is creating a lot of frustration and anger among the senior police officers in the state. Talking to Early Times one of the officers cleared by the DPC for higher rank said, "It is pathetic that the state government is holding the entire promotion process to the ADG, IGP and DIG ranks on the hold because it is not able to decide on the replacement of present IGP Kashmir zone." It is widely believed in the Police Department that the State Government has been toying on names to replace the present IGP Kashmir zone, SM Sahai but is not able to decide who should replace the high profile police officer. Sahai's contribution in consolidating the present peace in the Valley is largely acknowledged by his seniors. Yet, it is not in the personal interest of SM Sahai or for that matter any other police officer to be branded with a certain assignment for life. "The process of career development means that we have to move on. Stagnation creates vested interest and also gives an impression that the top bosses do not have the spine to take decisions," said another senior police officer. How long can the orders of promotions and postings be delayed because the State Government is unable to decide on the replacement choice of one senior police officer needs to be closely watched. Especially so when the political bosses claim that peace is a result of political consolidation and not an administrative or police skill? |
