| NPSU demands to abolish system of contractual appointments | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 30 : Taking strong exception to the functioning of Higher Education Department, the National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) said today that contractual appointment of lecturers in Colleges by the department is detrimental to the careers of thousands of students. Addressing the media persons here today, State President NPSU, Partap Singh Jamwal said that the appointment of lecturers on contractual basis in the colleges by the Higher Education Department is a wrong policy which is directly affecting the study of the students. The contractual lecturers do not give proper attention to the study of students because of the fact that they are working on contractual basis, he added. He further said that during the time period of contract if the lecturers get a permanent employment he or she leave the contractual appointment due to which the students had to face lot of problems and wait for new lecturer for more months together. Jamwal demanded that this rule of appointing contractual lecturers should be stopped immediately and a transparent transfer policy should be adopted in case of permanent lecturers. He warned that if our demands are not fulfilled by the government then the NPSU would hold dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan, Jammu within one week. |
