EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 30 : BSF (Border Security Force) , Jammu Frontier, today organized a re-union of various batches of the students who had been the part of the 'Bharat Darshan' Programme, an initiate undertaken by BSF under civic action. A large number of students, Senior BSF officials, and teaching faculty of schools who were the part of the Bharat Darshan programme were present on the occasion. Rajeev Krishna, Inspector General, BSF, Jammu Frontier, was the chief guest on the occasion while other prominent present on the occasion included DIG Jammu (SB) Jammu Frontier J S Oberai and others. Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Krishna, Inspector General, BSF, Jammu Frontier said, " These children were exposed to the historical, cultural and social profile of the country and the progress made in industrial, technological and scientific fields. "These tours are found to be having a long lasting impact on the children, parents and others in their areas, he added. After formal address IG BSF also interacted with the children who shared their experiences with the top brass of BSF Jammu Frontiers. DIG J S Oberai also spoke on the occasion and gave a detailed account of the Initiatives undertaken by the BSF to create a sense of security and confidence amongst the border population by taking up a number of developmental works and assistances for border population. Pertinent to mention here that apart from performing border guarding duties on International Border, BSF is also creating a sense of security and confidence amongst the border population by taking up a number of developmental works and assistance for border population. Various Developmental programs under Border area developmental program (BADP) and Civic Action programs are carried out each year by BSF Bn which includes Bharat Darshan tours were started in the year 2001 by the BSF by providing dresses, travel expenses, boarding and lodging to the children from the State. Under this project, young children in the age group of 10-16 years hailing from remote areas like Rajouri, Doda, Poonch etc have been selected by BSF with the help of village heads, schoolteachers' and other local agencies and then were took to Bharat Darshan. |
