| Fresh snowfall on upper reaches,Gulmarg | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 3 : World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other upper heights in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall since this afternoon as a Western Disturbance (WD) has finally hit the region. It was snowing heavily and about five to six inches of fresh snowfall has already accumulated on slopes already covered under more than four feet of snow, a hotel owner told UNI over phone. He said in the early morning there was light rain in Gulmarg while the upper reaches had light snowfall. But since this after it was snowing heavily, he said adding the upper reaches, including Kongdori, Khilanmarg and Affarwat, the highest skiing point in the world connected by Cable Car, experienced one to two feet of fresh snowfall. The other heights in the north Kashmir including Keran, Karnah, Machil, Neeru, Dawar and Razdan and Sadhna tops also received moderate to heavy snowfall today. It was cloudy and there could be snowfall anytime, a report from famed health resort of Pahalgam said. However, Holy Amarnath cave shrine and its periphery, Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pisso top and Panjterni had fresh snowfall early this morning. The Met department has already issued a forecast of for rain or snow from today till February 7. However, there would be heavy to very heavy snowfall on February 5 and 6 which can affected surface and air traffic also. |
