| Youth Congress starts membership drive | | | ET Plus Report
Rajouri, Mar 18: On the directions of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to reach out at grass roots level ahead of 2014 general elections, Youth Congress Darhal
unit has started an open membership drive from Monday.
In workers meeting at Darhal, Assembly Constituency Youth Congress President Advocate Shokat Ali said, "We have stared an open membership drive across Dharal and booth level so that more and more youth would come forward to join Youth Congress."
Addressing party workers and panchayat representatives he said, "People of this region are worst effected in past two decades militancy and among those who effected most are youth of this region, but Rahul Gandhi has personal affection with people of Rajouri and Poonch and he wants to change the atmosphere."
Slamming local MLA Choudhary Zulfaqar for his alleged non serious attitude towards people of their region who are facing short of basic amenities of livelihood, Ali said." People are still not getting their due rights as centrally sponsored schemes are not implemented on ground level properly, Indra Awas Yougna (IAY), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act are become victim of nepotism."
However, he appreciated MP Madan Lal Sharma for strongly projecting the demand of rail project to Rajouri-Poonch to the centre. |
