| Sadhotra chairs JK Building and Other | | Construction Workers’ Welfare Board meeting | | JAMMU: Keeping in view the rising number of registered construction workers and implementation of schemes of district level, the minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today approved grants to the tune of Rs 2.86 crore for J&K Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board. Chairing a high level meeting of the Board, the Minister discussed threadbare various issues including enhancement of the amount of Ex-gratia and pension in favour of the dependants of the deceased construction workers and the SRO case already recommended by Chief Execution Officer (CEO) and Secretary for its amendment by the Government . The Minister directed the officers to impart skill development training among the construction workers and rededicate themselves for the welfare and betterment of the workers to ensure their socio-economic upliftment. The Minister also directed the Board to make a proposal for creation of more posts to strengthen manpower in the Board office so that it can deliver services appropriately for better of the construction workers. The Minister asked the members of the Board for registration of the construction workers in the state as per the norms. He said that the workers working in various establishments and industries across the state, local or outsiders, should provide authentic data about themselves enabling the Government to take care of their welfare properly. He also stressed upon the need of implementation of various welfare programmes devised for up gradation of the workplace. He said Chief Minister is keen to provide all necessary facilities to the poor and deserving people of the state and several innovative steps are being initiated in this regard. Among others the meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Finance B.B Vayas, Commissioner Secretary Labor, Yedullah, Labour Commissioner, Sahid Anayatullah, CEO/Secretary, Sayed Majid Shah and Board members.
